Why Mark Zuckerberg thinks AR glasses will replace your phone

Meta’s CEO talks about the company’s Orion AR glasses and why he thinks it could replace the smartphone.

I think everyone here at The Verge can see that the Ray-Bans are an early hit and that Meta has tapped into something here that may end up being pretty big in the long run, which is not overpacking tech into glasses that look good, that do a handful of things really well. I think we’ll probably have the thing that was going to be the version two end up being the consumer product, and we’re going to use Orion with developers to basically cultivate the software experience so that by the time we’re ready to ship something, it’s going to be much more dialed in. And look, I’m not saying it’s all the phone’s fault, either, although I would say that the ability to get push notifications and get distracted, from my perspective, seems like a much greater contributor to mental health issues than a lot of the specific apps.
