Why people on Hacker News comment without reading

I am quite sure a big % of people on Hacker News comments on articles they haven't even opened, let alone read. BTW this "article" is based on an NPR stunt I read about in the book "Trust me. """We sometimes get the sense that some people are commenting on NPR stories that they haven’t actually read.
