Wine 9.18 is out today as the newest bi-weekly development release for this open-source software that enables running Windows games and applications under Linux and other platforms. The key improvements found with Wine 9.18 that landed over the past two weeks include a new Media Foundation back-end that is relying upon the FFmpeg library, initial support for network sessions within DirectPlay, a new Desktop Control Panel applet, and various bug fixes. There are 18 known bug fixes this release ranging from games like Warlords III to apps like WordSmith 9.0 and Repaper Studio.
