Workers on Samsung’s 8-in chip line to collectively file for workers’ comp

The ongoing strike by workers at Samsung Electronics has drawn attention to the run-down working conditions for those on the 8-inch line

With the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU) embarking on the second week of an indefinite strike as of Monday, improvements in working conditions have become a point of contention in ongoing negotiations between labor and management. The disease was caused by the repeated manual labor of transporting bundles of 25 wafers (also known as “lots”) that weigh 3 to 5 kilograms during shifts that at times had them up all night. “We also provide annual training for legal supervisors about the process of workers’ compensation and conduct routine health checks for employees whose work may affect their musculoskeletal systems,” they added.
