World’s first antenna that turns glass windows into 5G towers unveiled in Japan | Wave Antenna has no external presence and helps improve 5G coverage in urban areas.

Japanese glass company AGC has partnered with NTT to develop an antenna that can fit into any glass window to serve as a 5G base station.

Installing more base stations is more time-consuming, expensive, and even difficult in urban areas, where space availability is a major concern. By partnering with NTT Docomo, AGC is now entering the domain where building glass can be seamlessly turned into a base station to solve the problem of 5G connectivity. Different components of the base station have been incorporated into a flat panel with a small footprint that can be installed onto the interior surface of the window, leaving the outer facade of the building untouched.
