Xbox consoles, controllers, and games are getting more expensive

Xbox seems to be following in the footsteps of Nintendo, which also hiked the standard price of its first-party games from $59.99 to $79.99 for titles on the upcoming Switch 2 console. Microsoft did not provide much information about the reasoning behind the price increases, but said that the choice was made with “careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development.” This is likely a reference to President Donald Trump’s administration’s plans to levy steep tariffs on goods from other countries, which also impacted the preorder process for the Nintendo Switch 2.
