Your Android phone is getting an anti-theft upgrade, thanks to AI. How it works
One of several Android security enhancements, Google's theft detection feature is rolling out now to a limited number of users.
Expected to debut with Android 15, the feature would sense a device's motion -- such as someone snatching a phone and then running, biking, or driving away -- and immediately lock the screen, Google said. Google explains that AI uses your phone's gyroscope and accelerometer to watch for "common motion associated with theft." For now, Rahman said, the tool is rolling out to a limited number of users in Brazil who signed up for Google's beta program.
