Your electricity bill is forecast to climb with the summer heat
Electricity bills could be higher this summer than last year in the US.
Bills would have jumped higher, if not for lower residential electricity prices helping to balance out some of the increased energy use from air conditioning. The Pacific Coast, meanwhile, faces the biggest potential percentage increase in retail electricity prices in the nation — a 7 percent jump since last year. It’s the kind of risk that grows with climate change as heat-trapping emissions from fossil fuels push global average temperatures higher.
